Most small to medium-sized machines have options for either washing, drying, or both, while larger drum machines often have dedicated dryers. These may vary from shop to shop so it is important to look up the kanji characters above to confirm. Some older machines may have too many settings and options which can be confusing. Typically, laundromats mark the machine with numbers in order to push the buttons — 1, 2. 3rd etc which is always very useful.

For a splurge, check out Ascott Marunouchi, Marunouchi’s newest hotel/serviced apartment. Ascot boasts large, spacious 40 square meter rooms with full kitchens and washer/dryers. Reviews criticize the hotel’s lack of daily housekeeping and its quiet location, especially on weekends. However, Ascot should be considered if you are looking for a spacious laundry room in the Marunouchi area.

How To Do Laundry On Vacation
There are obvious advantages to self-service laundry, a lower price for a whole load of laundry rather than paying a fortune for each pair of socks.
Also, I prefer to wash the items myself so that I can control the water temperature and which detergent to use and the turnaround time is much faster.
Washing is done in 45-60 minutes and if you need a dryer it’s another hour or so. I didn’t turn the hotel laundry in less than half a day and then it cost me extra for the express service.
Some things like jeans I don’t like to put in the dryer and it’s hard to control when I give it to the hotel laundry, so I try to avoid it where possible.

Aloft Seoul Myeongdong isn’t one of these extended-stay brands so I was definitely surprised when I first saw a laundry room with them.
I usually carry my own detergent because some of the stuff you get smells pretty bad. At some grocery stores or drugstores, you can buy small packets that are portion sizes for one shower. I tend to carry 2-3 of them on multi-week trips especially when traveling hand-carry only.
Self-service laundry is a great way to clean your clothes quickly and avoid paying a fortune at the hotel while at the same time ensuring your clothes are washed properly at the right temperature.
Hotels often have these amenities available and it’s worth looking for them when you’re on the road for several weeks or months. At some point, you have to wash your clothes and I hate traveling with dirty laundry in my suitcase so I try to rotate it at least once a week.
