In March 2019, Holiday Inn Group opened its first Holiday Inn and Suites (Gajah Mada) in Indonesia. Well it’s been a long time since we had our stay here, just a week after their grand opening. We were privileged to experience their first Holiday Inn and Suites in Indonesia, located adjacent to Citywalk Gajah Mada, West Jakarta. We were quite busy at the time, so we didn’t get a chance to write a review on our blog. But some of you may have seen our YouTube channel reviewing this beautiful 4 star hotel. Everything was so brand new and all the staff were so nice and attentive. Definitely feel like a 5 star hospitality. Come check out our beautiful suite rooms. Don’t forget to subscribe 🙂 After reaching the lobby and checking in with the receptionist, we were given a very refreshing welcome drink. It took us a few minutes to wait while our room was prepared. There will definitely be some surprises in our house. There is a Duta Lounge near the lobby where you can sit, relax and unwind while having some drinks. If you look to the left of the receptionist, there is a small path where you can reach Citywalk Gazah Mada because the mall and hotel were next to it. So it will be very convenient to stay here knowing that there are many dining options in Citywalk, although the hotel itself has an all-day dining restaurant called Duta Restaurant.
Welcome to our suite! It is a very spacious room consisting of a dedicated living room and a bed room. The total combined room area is 69 square meters which is the largest 4 star hotel room we have experienced. I mean you can tell from the pictures below that the living room itself is huge and spacious with a desk, a big LED TV and two sofas.
We were quite surprised to see these little cakes on our living room table. Such a temptation especially with vibrant colors. And when we tried them, they were so delicious. Do not underestimate. Thank you so much Holiday Inn for the surprise!

Here comes the master bed room with a baby crib for Louisa. The baby is 1 year and 1 month old, but he doesn’t want to sleep alone. So, we used the baby crib whenever we couldn’t hold him and wanted to do something else.
Another handwritten welcome letter on our bed. We are really grateful for such hospitality, I mean we were treated very well even before our stay. All these little things make for a very memorable staying experience.
Our window view was slightly facing the Lindtivs Trade Center, but not directly in front of our window. Still a nice cityscape but don’t expect skyscraper views of Jakarta. Because the hotel is located around Gajah Mada China Town/Pankoran, although it is only a few kilometers away from the city center.
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and luxurious. We did not expect a big bathroom like a 4 star hotel. So it was definitely beyond our expectations. We were just hoping for a bathtub as it’s a so called suite room, but it’s an extra anyway.

Our master bed room was so spacious that it could have been a playground for our baby. The floors were all carpeted making it so homely and comfortable. And what we loved most from the room was the super huge window overlooking Jakarta city.
For dining options, you can dine at Duta Restaurant, their all-day dining restaurant serving you breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can order food from your room through room service. But the restaurant itself is really beautiful and luxurious, definitely not to be missed while staying here. The photo below was only during dinner for the ala carte menu, so the buffet table was empty. But at breakfast, it’s going to be a buffet.
We ordered a tenderloin steak, a salmon steak and gado gado with complimentary bread. We have to admit that the cooks were not at their best at that time (March 2019). Because our tenderloin was too raw for a medium cook, we requested medium and they took the steak for another minute of cooking. Sadly it turned out dark as if burnt on the outside but perfectly cooked on the inside. It was really good and the meat was definitely super tender and juicy. Great job for that at least they serve premium quality beef. The salmon was also slightly burnt, but it was also delicious.
Then their buffet breakfast was good, from pastries, Indonesian food, continental breakfast to fresh fruit and salad. We actually expected more from their food choices, but all in all no complaints as it wasn’t a 5 star hotel. I mean the room rate itself is quite cheap for such a big suite room. So, we enjoyed everything.

Welcome to the outdoor sports area on the 5th floor where you can access the gym and swimming pool. Nothing fancy here, just a place to relax and enjoy your afternoon. You can see the beautiful sunset from the pool area.
Overall, it was a very nice sleep, a very comfortable fluffy soft and clean bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our super spacious room and really appreciated all the surprises and hospitality. This is our second Holiday Inn hotel stay in Jakarta and we look forward to our next Holiday Inn hotel in the future. Thank you for reading.
