Originally opened in the waning years of the Belle Époque, the glamorous centenary update took advantage of the larger volumes and beautiful bones of this posh boutique hotel, adding all the luxury of the 21st century. Its location on a small, quiet street minutes from the Arc de Triomphe ensures a peaceful retreat with shopping, fine dining and sightseeing right outside your door.
Hotel Vernet Paris
Handsome contemporary rooms in relaxing neutral tones feature refined natural materials, rounded wood paneling, plush carpets and the kind of comfortable furnishings that invite you to kick off your shoes and settle in. The higher category rooms offer both spaciousness and privacy, many with their own balconies and some with a view of the Eiffel Tower, but mostly with a very Parisian view of the rooftops.
YOU SHOULD KNOW The rooms are larger than the Parisian standard, some suites with much higher ceilings, which is a convenience you really feel here, yet you pay prices comparable to more compact boutique hotels.
Huge mirrors accentuate the already large bathrooms, with double sinks (in Superior rooms), black and white tiling, elegant wooden finishes and chic designer bathtubs or rain showers.
The hotel’s beautiful original attributes are evident as soon as you enter the small but utterly elegant lobby, including magnificent marble columns and Gustave Eiffel’s superb glass ceilings. You can enjoy all this in the small lounge or head to the cozy bar.
Hotel Vernet Expert Review
The best thing about the elegant hotel restaurant is its opulent stained glass ceiling designed by Gustave Eiffel, under which you are offered an à la carte breakfast with sufficient but not overwhelming choice or a simpler continental breakfast in your room.
For lunch and dinner, the attractive, skilfully prepared dishes of the talented chef Richard Robe (ex Taillevent) make dining in the restaurant a pleasant convenience, although the à la carte menu is expensive. Consider the three-course tasting menu if you’re not one to splurge.
A glass of wine, champagne or a fresh house cocktail before dinner is a real pleasure in this cozy, comfortable bar in the art deco style, with an original fireplace and colorful ceilings and carpets by the French artist Jean-Michel Aberola. Although DJ nights seem incongruous when we’d be just as happy sipping in elegant serenity.
Located on a quiet street between the Champs-Elysées and the Golden Triangle, home to many of the city’s best hotels and within walking distance of some major tourist attractions, including the Arc de Triomphe, this is a good spot if you plan to do some serious high-end shopping too. The hotel is also close to world-class restaurants and nearby public transport that takes you quickly to almost anywhere in Paris, but is a quick, scenic walk to many of the main sites.
Best Hotels In Paris
Some of Paris’ greatest fine dining restaurants – mostly in other hotels – are an easy walk away, including Le George, at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, La Scène, at the Prince des Galles, Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Athénée and their beautiful Art Deco bistro Le Relais Plaza with popular jazz nights on Wednesdays. If those exceed your splurging fund, Le Bristol’s three-star chef Eric Frechon has created the menu at Drugstore Publicis, whose all-day and late-night hours and outdoor patio make it a neighborhood favorite (4-minute walk).
The best choice for a good cocktail are the many exceptional hotel bars nearby: Les Heures in Prince des Galles and the newly opened Hôtel de Crillon Les Ambassadeurs, the most beautiful bar in Paris. But Drugstore Publicis is also a great place for a cheaper cocktail, especially on the spacious terrace overlooking the Champs-Élysees (everything is a 5-15 minute walk from the hotel). Or you can stop at Ladurée for a glass of house rosé champagne and dessert (5 minute walk).
To be honest, there are many boutique hotels in Paris that are as beautiful as the Vernet, but given its prime location, it excels in service and price. If you want to be close to the Champs-Élysées, yet escape the hustle and bustle of tourists, this makes for a relaxing home away from home.

The Eiffel Tower is quite an impressive thing, isn’t it? What about its ability to attract countless thousands of visitors each year and then make them climb up and down all day every day. Well done Gustave Eiffel. Of course, there is one major problem with his tower, which is that its top is too far from the ground, causing some people to suffer from nausea, dizziness and a serious fear of death.

Acrophobics and those who have suffered from all the Griswold-esque tourists they care about might like to add Hôtel Vernet to their travel plans, as it boasts a rather beautiful glass ceiling designed by Mr. Eiffel himself, on a much less intimidating height. The Eiffel ceiling is not the only reason to visit this place; Interior designer François Champsaur did a good job on the recent restoration that was undertaken to mark the building’s 100th birthday. Art Nouveau meets contemporary chic in a skillful combination that reflects the site’s heritage, and among the many highlights are the abstract carpet and ceiling frescoes designed by Jean Michel Alberola.
