An obvious destination that wasn’t on our list of the best places to travel in Asia is Sri Lanka. However, we haven’t been lucky enough to go there yet, and I wanted to include only those places that I could personally recommend from my own experience.

Langkawi is one of the most beautiful islands in Southeast Asia. With its vast expanses of virgin rainforest and long white sandy beaches, this is one of the best beach destinations in Asia for wildlife-loving families as well as those looking to relax on the beach.

As much of the island is covered in rainforest, many of the activities here involve an abundance of wildlife.
Highlights include a visit to the Kilim Geo Park and a mangrove tour, and a ride on one of the steepest cable cars in the world to visit the Skybridge, a ‘floating’ bridge that hangs 100 meters above the rainforest.

Known for its vibrant Patong nightlife, Phuket doesn’t automatically come to mind as an Asian family holiday, but it’s actually amazing for a family holiday.

A good selection of great restaurants, fun family activities and a great selection of family resorts make Koh Samui ideal for a family beach holiday in Asia.
Lovers of beach holidays are based on the island of Samui. A real family favorite is the calm and quiet Bophut Beach. Fisherman’s Village has a wide selection of restaurants and bars, including beach favorite Coco Tam, where you can enjoy a cocktail while sitting on a swing at the bar.
Apart from the beaches, the real highlight is the kayaking and scuba diving at Ang Thong Marine Park. There are also two fun water parks to choose from, as well as canopy adventures, go-karting and crazy golf. Don’t miss a visit to the famous Big Buddha Temple for a cultural experience.

Top 10 Beach Family Holiday Destinations In South East Asia
This beautiful hotel on Bophut Beach features beautifully landscaped tropical gardens and elegant southern Thai architecture. It is conveniently located just a short walk from Fisherman’s Village and Coco Tam Beach Bar.
The Anantara has a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the beach and lots of entertainment, including complimentary kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, a tennis court and fitness center, and a fun little kids’ club with an outdoor play area.
This intimate beach resort with 77 rooms is located in the quiet harbor of Tongsai Bay, where the white soft sand private beach with clear calm water is definitely the highlight.
There are two pools, including a lap pool, although we prefer the freeform pool with a bar! There’s also a kids’ club conveniently located next to the pool, so you can be around.

Bali is one of the most popular family destinations in Asia. Known for its rich culture, fabulous restaurants, stunning scenery and miles of beaches, it’s no wonder people flock to Bali every year for a family holiday in Southeast Asia.
The beauty of Bali is that you can visit it more than once and stay in a different place and experience a completely different kind of vacation. A family holiday in the rice fields of Ubud is very different from a beach holiday in Seminyak.
Wherever you stay, a family highlight in Bali is Waterbom Water Park. Families can also enjoy bike tours, rafting, snorkeling and watching some exciting cultural performances.

The Best Expat Destinations In Southeast Asia
This luxury Bali resort has plenty of activities for families, including bike tours, beach volleyball and soccer. There are also tennis courts and five swimming pools, including two “fun pools” with play fountains.

Apart from the beaches, there are many things to do in Lombok. Visit Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s largest volcano, swim in Sendanggile Falls or take a horse and cart tour of local villages, including Masbagik Village, famous for its traditional pottery.
It’s also fun to spend the day at Sengigi Beach, browsing the craft stalls and art market and spending time at beachside restaurants. Or take a day trip to the Gili Islands to snorkel or dive with the local turtles.
