Choosing the Best Agent to Book Flights or Buy Airline Tickets Directly: Here’s What to Choose Thinking of going to India? As much as we love to go with the flow and travel unplanned, planning is essential for India if you are planning in a precise time frame. Last minute travel is not very effective as trains/planes and good places to stay fill up very quickly.
Best Tips For Visiting The Taj Mahal
First of all, make sure you know which cities to visit and plan accordingly. In our case, I went to work in Mumbai and planned an itinerary with the kids based around Mumbai, Dehli, Varanasi, Jaipur and a quick stop in Agra for the obvious Taj Mahal. 10 days is too short to do that much in India, we’ll have to go back sooner or later!
Here are all the tips we’ve put together that we believe will likely be helpful to anyone planning a trip to India. Be sure to share them!
Obviously, this is essential for touring India. No one has time to get sick on a 10-day journey… so no one wants to be sick IN NO WAY!
Option 2: Buy water bottles (no matter how much we hate plastic and encourage plastic-free travel), but a common thing is they take old bottles and add tap water to them. Be careful when buying bottles; Check if it is closed properly to avoid getting sick.
New Delhi Travel Tips
While we’re making a lot of plans, it’s likely that the plans won’t be exactly as they appear on paper! Traffic is also hell so take your time and wait a day or two. In our case, we knew that delays would mean less days spent in some cities.
I have come across that they often ask for your ID on trains. Strange. But like most travelers you can keep your passport well. Make sure you have a driver’s license or other valid identification document with you to avoid too much hassle looking for your original passport copy.
Well, this is not news for the frequent traveler; It’s actually a very common thing. Expect this in many forts, temples and Taj Mahal! You will most likely pay a little more or double, so if this is your first time encountering this, don’t be offended and disrespected about it.
Probably the most important tip you’ll thank us for later! If you want toilet paper, you’d better carry it with you at all times! There is no guarantee that it will be found in every bathroom in India. It’s not a surprise. Speaking of going to the toilet, there is an app called “Sit or Squat” to find a toilet, which can be useful for finding a toilet haha.

Aren’t you Indian? You will likely be annoyed. Ignore them! Smile and wave. It’s not rude not to respond to a person who wants to engage you in an unusual conversation. It’s also going to be very crowded around you, so keep your stuff close and get used to it. Finally, people may want to take selfies with you or give their kids a picture for you to take!
The most mindful people we know are still sick from traveling in India. Apparently, it’s hard to avoid this, although we never get sick. Maybe because we’ve been living in Asia for a while and we’re full! In summary, if you want street food, make sure it is well boiled/cooked.
For the train, the reserved seats in the better wagons fill up very quickly. Book your train tickets at least one week in advance (depending on the train destination).
I can’t believe it after I said that things can always be late, trains are just on time! Why? Some trains at some stations only stop for two to four minutes, so it’s best to get to the station early in case you have trouble finding your rail and car. Not like getting on a plane, they won’t make the last call to get on a plane!
Precautionary Tips For Traveling India
Did you know that major train stations have separate ticket lines for foreigners?
Definitely preferred transportation! It is much cheaper than taxis and can comfortably accommodate up to 2-3 people in luggage! I also bought this for my commute and it was quite enjoyable to have a TukTuk as a regular transportation option.
There are larger versions of TukTuks! They usually run up and down the main streets of small towns and you can hop on and off.

Dress to feel comfortable and fit the environment. Avoid looking like a tourist. Remember, there are a lot of expats in India so a foreign face is nothing new. And every year millions of foreign tourists visit India. If you get lost, approach a uniformed police officer for directions; They are everywhere in urban areas. You can also approach passers-by and people in shops to ask for directions. People in India are quite friendly.
✔ Avoid dimly lit and sparsely populated areas after office hours. Walk at night in a group or with at least one companion
✔ A small digital camera that you can safely put in your pocket after use is ideal. If you need to use DSLRs, store them safely in your bag instead of hanging them around your neck after use.
✔ Leave all your valuables such as extra money, travel documents and jewelry in the hotel safe.

✔Pickpockets will always notice you. Attach your backpack kangaroo style to the front to stay safe. Hang your bag from your neck on the back of the bag with the opening facing your stomach. This will make it impossible for any pickpockets to get to your valuables.
✔ Write the name and address of the hotel in a notebook. If you have trouble communicating with a taxi driver, you can simply show him the address. Or simply choose a business card from the hotel reception
✔ Finally, slow down and spend time in each location. Everything in this country has a history. India is as much about its people as it is about magnificent monuments; so contact people whenever an opportunity presents
✔ Courtesy is a western trait but it doesn’t always work the same way in India, especially in less educated people like waiters, bellboys, chauffeurs and porters. In other words, being overly friendly towards them can be perceived as an “invitation”. Unfortunately, such men see western women as more “accessible” than Indian women, so be confident and firm in your communications (never be rude).

There’s nothing like playing a chord with a local and being invited to their home for lunch or tea. India is a society where several generations live under the same roof. You may find it fascinating, and another aspect that will not go unnoticed is the warmth shown to you. Most Indians believe in “Atithi Devobhava” (Equivalent to Guest God).
