So here’s a bumper post with a big roundup of some of my favorite places to visit in Asia for families. I have personally visited and fallen in love with each of these family holiday destinations in Asia and now I will share them with you here.

An obvious destination missing from our best places to travel in Asia list is Sri Lanka. However, we haven’t been lucky enough to visit there yet, and I’d like to include only places here that I can personally recommend from my own experiences.

Langkawi is one of the most beautiful islands in Southeast Asia. With untouched rainforests and large stretches of long white sandy beaches, it is one of the best beach destinations in Asia for wildlife-loving families and those looking to chill on the beach.

With most of the island covered in rainforest, many of the activities here revolve around the abundant wildlife found here.

Andaman Beach is located in the magnificent Datai Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia. Rooms can easily accommodate two children with fold-down sofa beds. Some offer private garden terraces.

Pelangi Resort (formerly Meritus Pelangi) is located at Pantai Cenang, one of Langkawi’s most popular beaches. This family hotel has two free-form swimming pools, as well as a children’s dinosaur-themed water play area, including water slides.
Add to this tennis courts, mini golf, archery, bicycle hire and a whole range of water sports activities and you have some happy kids on your hands. Meritus Pelangi is also near the airport.
Known for its wild nightlife in Patong, Phuket doesn’t automatically spring to mind for an Asian family vacation, but it’s actually family-friendly.

There is a good selection of restaurants, including the funky Xana Beach Club, which has its own beachside swimming pool. Another reason why this Phuket hotel is a winner for families is that it has the largest kids club in Phuket.
Much quieter than its Thai island cousin Phuket, Koh Samui boasts calm, shallow waters with stunning white sand beaches, making it one of our picks for the best family destinations in Asia.

Beach lovers are spoiled for choice on Koh Samui. A real family favorite is the calm and quiet Bophut Beach. The fishing village here has a good range of restaurants and bars to choose from, including firm favorite Coco Tam’s Beach Bar, where you can sit on a swing at the bar and sip a cocktail.
Beyond the beaches, the real highlight is kayaking and snorkeling at Ang Thong Marine Park. There are two fun water parks to choose from, as well as canopy adventures, go karting and crazy golf. Don’t miss a visit to the famous Big Buddha Temple for a bit of culture.

Bali is one of the most popular destinations for families to visit in Asia. Known for its rich culture, fabulous dining scene and stunning scenery and miles of beaches, people flock to Bali year after year for their Southeast Asian family vacations.
The beauty of Bali is that you can visit multiple times and stay in a different place and experience a completely different kind of holiday. A family holiday among the rice paddies of Ubud is different from a beach holiday in Seminyak.
No matter where you stay, a family highlight in Bali is definitely the Waterbom water park. Families can enjoy cycling tours, white water rafting, snorkeling and some fascinating cultural performances.

Beyond the beaches there is plenty of exploring to do in Lombok. Visit Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s largest volcano, go for a swim at Sendangil Falls, or take a horse and cart tour around some of the local villages, including the village of Masbagik, famous for its traditional pottery.
