I am a member of several hotel reward programs. There is no objection to entering more than one. However, the longer you stay with the same hotel program, the more benefits you get with it. And check after each stay to make sure you’ve given me credit for your stays.

For starters, some hotel chains reward their loyalty program members with discounted rates when they join their program for booking a room. In many cases, they only need a small number of stays before they can earn a lower rate that is extended to members only. Sometimes people who join the loyalty program get it right away. And the price for program members may be lower than anything you can find on third-party discount travel sites. Hilton, for example, has a guaranteed discount for members, regardless of what level you’ve reached in their loyalty program.
You may want to join a hotel loyalty program if you find that your travel plans change frequently after booking. Securing a room through another discount site means you must comply with their cancellation policies. And sometimes that means you have to pay for a room, even if your flight is delayed or canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
On the other hand, hotel loyalty members can often cancel their stays, even at the last minute, without repercussions. Also, if there is a fee, if you talk to the hotel directly and mention your loyalty program membership, they will often waive the fee. I had this experience with my World of Hyatt membership. 24 hours before staying at the hotel I was very sick. This hotel’s policy was 48 hours. I called Hyatt directly and explained the situation, and they waived the cancellation fee because of my membership.

Although not guaranteed, I was able to change my reservation within 24 hours at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad with no cancellation fees because of my loyalty status.
By checking in with any hotel as a member of its loyalty program, you will get some perks to enjoy. For example, if you normally have to pay for Wi-Fi, some hotels offer free access to their members. In addition, they may offer you a free drink, free breakfast or other gift at check-in. Typically, benefits are most often found at the beginning of the status levels of the program. However, as you rise in status, the perks and benefits grow and improve! One of my favorite perks is staying out late, sometimes even until 4pm. I often use it for business appointments in the middle of the day and on evening flights. I found it to be an extraordinary benefit for me.

Some brands take it a step further. For example, at Mandarin Oriental, members can choose from two additional benefits during their visit (see benefits chart below).
