The New Xcaret Arte Hotel – Thoughts on 1st Trip Just got back from the Xcaret Arte Hotel. This is a new resort that opened in 2021 to compliment Xcaret Hotel with the distinct distinction of being adults only. I have stayed at the original Xcaret hotel several times so this was great to compare the two resorts.

This is the perfect retreat for an active group of friends, a couple or a family with grown children. I would not recommend to anyone with mobility issues or the inability to walk long distances.

Occidental At Xcaret Destination Review

1) Stay as long as you can! This resort includes all 9 Xcaret parks as part of your inclusions. All leave you wishing you could stay longer.

2) Plan to eat! This resort is famous for its gastronomy. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was impressive. We had some really amazing authentic Mexican food. They have 3 restaurants on property that require reservations so make sure you schedule this when you arrive so you can hit all the great ones.

3) Transportation is included via motorbike to and from the airport. If you miss it, you can wait 30-45 minutes for the next bus, so private transport is always an option if you prefer. We paid $65 one way for a private transfer.

4) Brush up on your Spanish. We found this resort to cater to a large number of international guests. English was spoken but not as fluent as other resorts in the area. We could always figure it out, but sometimes we had to get creative with English and Spanish.

5) Explore both sides. A stay at Xcaret Arte gives you full access to the Xcaret Hotel. The spa on the side of the Xcaret Hotel is not to be missed. It is carved out of the rock, so the treatment rooms are in individual caves. They connect by the waterfalls and go along a bridge over the river.

6) Leave the high heels at home! This resort requires a lot of walking on uneven surfaces. The paths only from the lobby to the rooms were stone. We would also recommend wearing water shoes for swimming in the river as there are a lot of rocks.

7) Masks! They were more pro-mask than any resort I’ve been to during the pandemic. They asked you to wear a mask almost everywhere on the property by having a person walking around with a “Please wear your mask” sign. They didn’t confront people even though they were wearing a mask, unless it was in a restaurant.

8) Dedicate a day to enjoy the hotel. The parks included are amazing, but the resort is equally amazing. There are caves, a river, incredible pools, paddle boarding, kayaking and more without leaving the hotel.

9) Plan for later hours….. this resort caters to a wide variety of countries. The United States is one of the few that likes to dine at 6 p.m. When we went to dinner at 6pm it would be a ghost town. Restaurants come alive starting at 9pm, and there are even tacos available until 4am outside SpeakEasy.

10) Speaking of Speakeasys….this is a trend I love. We arrived one evening at SpeakEasy (located in the music wing). It is located in the service area of the hotel. You follow the red lights on the ceiling to get there and it looks like you’re pulling into a parking garage and then suddenly there’s a cool bar with live jazz. This is not to be missed!

There are so many amazing things about this country and I can’t wait to continue exploring everything there is.
