My husband and I just finished an amazing stay at the brand new adults-only all-inclusive hotel Xcaret Arte. It was seriously one of the most amazing all inclusive experiences I have ever had! (And that’s saying something as I’ve been to a ton of all inclusive resorts haha!) This post is just about their comfort food restaurant, Arenal, but a full review post on the resort will follow soon. !
Costco Travel Hotel Xcaret Arte
It was some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life. (Seriously!) The burger was so good I had it again the next day!
What You Need To Know About Using Costco To Book Your Next Vacation
Every restaurant had a special welcome drink and Arenal was no different. They put out a special watermelon spritzer that was very refreshing and not too sweet and not too watermelony. My husband actually enjoyed it and he hates watermelon!
For starters, the chef prepares a special sample that is different every day. Ours was a fresh shrimp marinated in a spicy sauce, topped with a slice of dragon fruit, and topped with a slice of jicama.
It’s also important to mention that the resort does an amazing job of accommodating food preferences. They have a vegan restaurant and have tasting menu alternatives that don’t include meat! I thought it was great!
Black Cocktail – Chiapas shrimp with cocktail sauce and avocado. It was very tasty! The cocktail sauce was a mixture similar to a spicy sesame sauce. I really enjoyed the unexpected twist on the traditional cocktail sauce that usually comes with shrimp cocktail.

Yellowfin Tuna – This was a yellowfin sashimi served in a lime emulsion sauce and topped with pickled green papaya and pumpkin seeds.
Blunt – Vegetables are roasted with pumpkin seeds and coriander and served on a bed of honey ricotta pesto with pine nuts. Awesome!
Grilled Corn – Freshly grilled corn topped with dry chili mayonnaise and fresh cheese. They had this pre-portion in shareable portions which made it so easy to eat!
My husband ordered the roasted chicken with white recado and french fries. The fries reminded me of those potato sticks in a jar when I was a kid. My favorite was the herb gravy with olive oil on the side. I ordered the burger (two days in a row!) with caramelized onions and mozzarella cheese. The sauce on the burger was so smoky in flavor that the onions and cheese blended together so deliciously. It was divine. The fresh potato wedges were like those super tasty ones you get at the gas station, but make it fancy! I loved dipping them in olive oil which was slightly spicy in taste.
Hotel Xcaret: What You Get And How To Save
By far my favorite dessert was Maria’s cookies with soft toffee! It was served with homemade popsicles. The second desert was Corn Sponge Cake with Salted Caramel Sauce and Dutch Cheese Ice Cream. I didn’t care for it as it was a bit salty and I wasn’t a fan of the texture.
If you’re considering a trip to the new Hotel Xcaret Arte, do it ASAP! You won’t regret it! You can find a link to Arenal’s full menu here.
I recommend using a travel agent when booking because you are supporting a small business and secondly the resort is very confusing during the booking process. Plus, there are tons of extras you might not be aware of when booking yourself, so save yourself the headache and let someone else do all the work for you!
