An obvious destination that didn’t make our list of the best places to travel in Asia is Sri Lanka. However, we haven’t been lucky enough to go there yet, and I wanted to include only those places that I could personally recommend from my own experience.

Langkawi is one of the most beautiful islands in Southeast Asia. With vast expanses of pristine rainforest and long white sandy beaches, this is one of the best beach destinations in Asia for families who love wildlife as well as those who want to relax on the beach.

Much of the island is covered in rainforest, so many of the activities here revolve around the abundant wildlife.

Beach lovers are spoiled for choice on Koh Samui. A true family favorite is the calm and quiet Bophut Beach. The Fisherman’s Village has plenty of restaurants and bars here, including beach favorite Coco Tam, where you can sip a cocktail while sitting on the bar’s swing.
Apart from the beaches, the real highlight is the kayaking and snorkeling at Ang Thong Marine Park. There are also two fun water parks to choose from, as well as canopy adventures, go-karting and crazy golf. Don’t miss a visit to the famous Big Buddha Temple to experience the culture.
